The ability of the Maltese-led private sector has continued to be instrumental in our country’s economic success – the Prime Minister during the event commemorating the 30th anniversary of the OZO Group company<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

During an event hosted by the OZO Group company on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its establishment, Prime Minister Robert Abela noted how this private company, over the years it has been operating, has grown as a business in a time of economic growth.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister referred to the positive economic results that Malta is enjoying today. “Today we have more people working, less unemployment and more wealth. These results are the fruit of a stable economic policy aimed at sustainable growth,” said Dr Abela.<\/p>\n

He added that the Government has opened the door to growth and put aside austerity. At the same time, the ability of the private sector, the calculated risks and the commitment of hundreds and thousands of Maltese-led companies have continued to build and strengthen this economic success of our country.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister explained that, for the Government, economic growth alone has never been enough. \u201cWe believe in an economy that grows, but not at the expense of quality, justice and respect for people, whoever they are,\u201d said Dr Abela. He argued that it is necessary for workers to be employed in areas where there is a real need, to be given fair conditions, to be respected by their employers.<\/p>\n

Dr Abela said that the economic results we are seeing today are a driving force for the Malta 2050 Vision, a vision built on sustainable growth, a better quality of life and a balance between work and personal life. The Prime Minister mentioned how this same vision will be translated into the first comprehensive national plan that our country has ever had.<\/p>\n

He also referred to the fact that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) experts told us on Friday that Malta is the only country in the European Union that is so trusted that the IMF does not feel the need for annual economic surveillance. \u201cNevertheless, in the Malta that we believe in, the one that looks ahead, success is not measured only by the size of the national cake or by figures. It is also measured by how much time we have for our family, how much we can enjoy our lives and how much money we have left in our pockets to spend as we wish. This is the Malta that we are building together,\u201d stressed the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he referred to the investment being made in public spaces, in particular the Manoel Island, White Rocks, Fort Campbell, Fort Tign\u00e9 and Fort San Salvatur projects. Dr Abela also noted that with the Grand Harbour regeneration project announced last week, the Government is ensuring that private investment allows Maltese and Gozitans to benefit directly from it.<\/p>\n

Dr Abela made reference to the \u201cOZO 30 Initiatives\u201d initiative, a specially designed programme through which the OZO Group company will carry out 30 projects that will have an impact not only on the company itself and its employees, but also on the community in general.<\/p>\n
