Hamrun Spartans FC and Hibernians FC are set to face off on Tuesday in the 39th edition of the BOV Super Cup Final, with the two teams looking to get their first piece of silverware of the season.<\/p>\n
This will be the second time this season that the two clubs will be facing off, with the previous encounter taking place in the league back in September, when Hamrun came away as 2-0 winners.<\/p>\n
Current league champions and BOV Super Cup holders Hamrun Spartans will face FA Trophy winners Hibernians in one of the Maltese football calendar\u2019s standout matches on Tuesday 10th February 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00hrs.<\/p>\n
This will represent the first time that the two sides will meet in the final of the BOV Super Cup.<\/p>\n
On Monday, the press conference ahead of the final was held at Centenary Hall, with both sides highlighting their willingness to secure silverware heading into the final stages of the season. On Hamrun\u2019s side, coach Giacomo Modica and captain Henry Bonello were present, while for Hibs, coach Branko Nisevic and captain Bjorn Kristensen addressed the press conference.<\/p>\n
Commenting during the press conference, Hamrun coach Giacomo Modica stated that despite the short gap between the final and the previous league game, the team is ready to give its all.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn one-off finals like this one, there is no favourite, but our concentration levels are very high, and we are ready to give our 100 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n
On his part, Hibernians coach Branko Nisevic remarked that given the match is being played in the middle of the season requires different preparation than had it been played earlier in the campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn these types of matches, anything can happen. While we have some absentees in our squad, we will surely come out with the strongest team that we have available at the moment. The most important thing is that the players are concentrated and that they are fully committed. Everything should be in place for a good performance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both Bonello and Kristensen stated that the fact that the match is a final allows players to give that extra push to win a trophy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe try to win every game, but when it is a final and there is a trophy on the line, you have that added motivation to go on and give that extra push,\u201d Bonello said.<\/p>\n
Bonello added that while the team has had some changes during the January transfer window, the nucleus has remained the same. \u201cI feel that now we have a stronger identity than before, and that the new players will not find it difficult to integrate with the rest of the team,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
Kristensen said that while Hibernians started the season strong, the team suffered some injuries and struggled to recover from them.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe that in January we strengthened the team very well and I believe that in every game we play, and in each training session that we have, we always have the target to finishing the season strongly,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The BOV Super Cup Final is being supported by the Office of the Commissioner for Animal Welfare, particularly through a fundraising campaign dedicated to animal welfare, responsible adoption, and the long-term support of rescued animals by the Malta Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (MSPCA).<\/p>\n
