The Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, launched a National Strategy for the crafts sector and announced that in the coming days a call for proposals (RFP) will be issued for the development of a Family Entertainment Park in the Artisan Village in Ta\u2019 Qali. The park will cover more than 13,000 square metres, the equivalent of one and a half times the size of the national ground.<\/p>\n

During the launch, Minister Schembri explained that the fundamental principle behind this strategy is linked to the Malta Vision 2050, which aspires to a secure, resilient nation that is proud of its identity. He emphasised that Maltese cultural heritage encompasses our entire identity, history, customs, traditions, and artisanal skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrafts are an essential part of our identity. Through this strategy, we are not only protecting the sector but helping it adapt to today’s world through innovation, ensuring these skills are not lost and continue to evolve for future generations,\u201d stated Minister Schembri.<\/p>\n

The strategy is designed to be a document that will be implemented gradually and monitored to remain relevant, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the Maltese artisanal product.<\/p>\n

As part of the commitment to enhance the Ta\u2019 Qali Artisan Village, Minister Schembri also announced that an RFP for the development of a Family Entertainment Park will be issued shortly. This project aims to create a high-quality recreational destination that complements the surrounding artisanal activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis park will not only be an entertainment attraction but also a showcase of Maltese creativity and heritage. Through it, we will increase visitors to the Ta\u2019 Qali Artisan Village and create new commercial opportunities for artisans,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n

Minister Schembri thanked the Malta Crafts Foundation, INDIS, and MIEA for their joint efforts in realising this holistic vision for the crafts sector and for Maltese and Gozitan families.<\/p>\n

The CEO of the Malta Crafts Foundation, Elton Micallef, emphasised that this strategy represents a historic step, as it is the first of its kind for this sector in our country. He noted that the strategy does not just address challenges but builds a clear and sustainable vision for the future. He concluded by saying that this initiative is strengthening the confidence of all stakeholders in the sector while creating an environment that encourages continuity, investment, and long-term growth.<\/p>\n
