\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela announced the introduction of six new rapid response vehicles <\/span><\/span><\/span>that will more than double the pre-hospital care service. <\/span><\/span>It was explained how during the past year, the 112 Ambulance service responded to more than 56,500 emergency situations. This marks the highest number ever recorded and an increase of 12% compared to 2024.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This increase in demand highlights the crucial importance of continued investment in emergency pre-hospital services. <\/span><\/span>Minister Jo Etienne Abela claimed that these six new vehicles will therefore be added to the existing fleet, where the number of vehicles has now risen to 11. He explained that these vehicles allow the teams to get to the patients faster, particularly in emergencies that threaten the patient’s life, such as cardiac arrest and serious trauma.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

“Early and advanced intervention improves the results for patients, and thus they are delivered to the Emergency Department in as optimized a condition as possible,” repeated Dr. Abela.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The minister also announced that apart from the expansion of the fleet, the number of consultants specialized in pre-hospital care has also been doubled.<\/span><\/span> “Our staff used these vehicles to save patients’ lives. We are committed to continuing to expand, improve and introduce concepts of excellence in emergency care,” concluded Dr. Abela.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
