Edmondo Dantes returns to Malta for the fifth time in a modern version of the classic novel.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Count of Monte Cristo Minister for Culture, Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici together with Film Commissioner Johann Grech visited the set of the television production \u2018La Comtesse de Monte-Cristo\u2019.<\/span><\/span> \u2018La Comtesse de Monte-Cristo\u2019 is a high-level French production comprising eight episodes of 52 minutes each.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The production was shot in Malta for the past three months.<\/span><\/span> During the visit, Minister Bonnici and Commissioner Grech met with key members of the production team, including the producers, director and actors.<\/span><\/span> They also met with the crew employed on the production, 90% of whom are Maltese.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The production was filmed in a wide range of iconic Maltese locations, including Riviera Beach in Mellie\u0127a, the Pixkerija and the Manoel Theatre in Valletta, Mi\u0121ra l-Fer\u0127a in Rabat, Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar, and Fort Manoel in G\u017cira.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the visit, Minister Bonnici highlighted how international productions such as \u2018La Comtesse de Monte-Cristo\u2019 continue to showcase Malta\u2019s cultural heritage, our drive towards more high-quality jobs in the film sector while supporting the economy.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Commissioner Grech emphasized, \u201cThis production is another example of how we have managed to turn the film industry into one that works every day, with more Maltese working in it all year round. Committed to continuing to attract international productions that bring long-term value to the film industry in Malta, while continuing to strengthen the infrastructure and crews in Malta.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018La Comtesse de Monte-Cristo\u2019 is a contemporary interpretation of Alexandre Dumas\u2019 classic book.<\/span><\/span> The story takes place in Marseille in 1815 anyway, but this time it places Merc\u00e9d\u00e8s Herrera at its centre and transforms her from a tragic figure to a hero of her own destiny.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
