\u00a0At the European Union-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels, Prime Minister Robert Abela called for unity in the European continent in favour of stability and prosperity for all citizens living there.<\/span><\/span> During this annual summit, Prime Minister Robert Abela reiterated Malta\u2019s commitment to strengthening partnership and collaboration with the countries of the Western Balkans and emphasised the importance of unity in times of common challenges for the resilience of the European continent.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Abela noted the positive progress and recent efforts that are bringing this region closer to the European Union, and stressed the crucial role of consistency in the implementation of initiatives that bring benefits to citizens across the continent and economic development that leaves wealth among families.<\/span><\/span> Among these successes, the Prime Minister mentioned the \u201croam like at home\u201d agreement in the Western Balkans as a concrete example of how strategic cooperation leads to significant results that are felt by citizens.<\/span><\/span> He noted that these achievements are a testament to what can be achieved through persistent dialogue and a shared vision.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the discussion, the Prime Minister also praised the ongoing collaboration to strengthen collective resilience against cyber and hybrid threats, challenges that go beyond borders and require a coordinated European response.<\/span><\/span> Prime Minister Robert Abela also spoke about the importance of intensifying efforts to resolve bilateral disputes and strengthen regional reconciliation, in order to continue building a stable future based on mutual respect and good neighbourly relations.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

While reaffirming Malta\u2019s full support for the European Union enlargement process, the Prime Minister described it as an essential geopolitical imperative for Europe\u2019s security and prosperity that must be built on the European values \u200b\u200bof democracy, the protection of fundamental human rights and the rule of law, which remain at the heart of relations.<\/span><\/span> He reiterated Malta\u2019s commitment to the accession journey of these countries and said that Malta looks forward to further cooperation and progress in the coming year.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
