St. Vincent de Paul is undergoing extensive investment in the field of security, through infrastructural improvements in its fire department, including the purchase of a new specialized vehicle and the commencement of renovation works on the building dedicated to this department.<\/p>\n

Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing Malcolm Paul Agius Galea met with members of the section, which today includes a team of 18 people. A number that has increased significantly compared to a few years ago when there were only two.<\/p>\n

The fight to protect the safety of residents in this complex will now be supported by a new dedicated vehicle, with an investment of \u20ac55,000. This is the first time that this section will be equipped with its own means of transport, which will facilitate emergency interventions, inspection work, as well as other related operations.<\/p>\n

In parallel, renovation works are also being carried out on the building that will house the offices and equipment of this department, so that it meets the highest standards of safety and functionality. The works are focusing on better infrastructure, fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus and other personal protection equipment for workers. This addition should facilitate a quick and efficient response to any emergency.<\/p>\n

The workers of this section operate on a 24-hour basis, with four members per shift. They are also responsible for regular inspections of fire extinguishing equipment throughout the halls of the complex, as well as for awareness training on what type of equipment should be used correctly. They are also able to deal with minor incidents in the vicinity of the complex and offer support to the Civil Protection if necessary.<\/p>\n

Parliamentary Secretary Malcolm Paul Agius Galea explained how this investment not only reflects a clear commitment to better safety for the residents and staff of St. Vincent’s, but also a vision of more proactive, responsible and efficient care. \u201cThanks to the dedication of the Fire Department team, today we are in a better position to respond to any emergency and ensure a safe environment for the entire community,\u201d concluded Agius Galea.<\/p>\n
