Prime Minister Robert Abela paid an official visit to the third edition of TECHXPO25, held at the MFCC in Ta\u2019 Qali under the theme \u201cConnecting Innovation, Shaping Tomorrow.\u201d This annual event brings together industry leaders, innovative start-ups, public entities, professionals, students, and academics under one roof, with the aim of exploring the latest developments in digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies that are transforming how we work and live.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at how TECHXPO reflects the growing confidence in our country\u2019s ecosystem in relation to the digital sector and innovation.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the Government\u2019s commitment to a more digital and innovative future is aligned with the Malta Vision 2050 \u2013 a Vision aimed at building a country where digital tools enhance everyday life and where citizens feel confident using them. He added that this is not a distant aspiration but a reality already taking shape through concrete investments.<\/p>\n

Malta is investing strategically in high value-added sectors through digitalisation, sectors such as gaming, manufacturing, maritime, aviation, fintech, as well as the blue and green economies.<\/p>\n

While technological transformation continues to advance, the Government\u2019s core objective remains the same: that of improving the quality of life. Through the program AI for All, the Government will offer free training and certification for students, parents, workers, and the elderly. Those completes this training will receive free subscription to an AI service such as ChatGPT or Gemini.<\/p>\n

Malta is further strengthening its innovation infrastructure through DiHubMT, the European Centre for Digital Innovation, which now hosts around 50 start-ups and provides access to AI tools, cloud services, cybersecurity, and the High-Performance Computer (HPC). Investment in HPC is enabling academics, students, and enterprises to conduct advanced simulations and develop AI models locally.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister\u2019s visit to TECHXPO25 followed Thursday\u2019s launch of the updated National AI Strategy, which will now open for public consultation. This strategy places people, the common good, and sustainability at its core. The National Strategy on AI sets out a concrete plan for how AI will empower the Maltese and Gozitan people, support industries, and enhance public services in an ethical, transparent, and secure manner.<\/p>\n
