Employees at the Water Services Corporation are set to receive substantial improvements in pay, career opportunities and professional development following the signing of a new Collective Agreement with the General Workers\u2019 Union. An investment of more than \u20ac36 million over the next six years.<\/p>\n

Signed in the presence of Minister for the Environment and Energy Miriam Dalli, the agreement marks a key milestone in the Corporation\u2019s ongoing commitment to recognising and rewarding its employees, who play an essential role in delivering water and wastewater services to households and businesses across Malta and Gozo. \u201cThis collective agreement reflects the Government\u2019s and the Corporation\u2019s shared commitment to strengthening public service through investment in people. By prioritising development and retention, we are building a stronger organisation which in turn brings better results for the country,\u201d Minister Dalli said.<\/p>\n

The agreement delivers a major boost for the Corporation\u2019s workforce, including a revised salary structure, performance-based progression, and guaranteed annual training hours for every employee to support upskilling and career growth. It also introduces new measures that strengthen job stability, reduce staff turnover, and improve internal promotion pathways.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis agreement is a testament to our belief that the strength of the Corporation lies in its people \u201cBy investing in their growth, stability, and well-being, we are ensuring the continuity of our services and preparing WSC for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Our employees are at the heart of everything we do, and this agreement gives them the recognition and tools they deserve to continue delivering excellence,\u201d said Karl Cilia, CEO of the Water Services Corporation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe General Workers\u2019 Union is satisfied with the Collective Agreement, which covers around 900 Water Services Corporation employees.\u201d The Collective Agreement involves a \u20ac36 million investment in both working conditions as well as salaries. Moreover, it sets out a vision for the Corporation and its staff, going forward, in terms of upskilling and training,\u201d said Josef Bugeja, Secretary General of the General Workers\u2019 Union.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed by Karl Cilia, Chief Executive Officer, Water Services Corporation; Joseph Vella, Chairman, Water Services Corporation; Kendrick Bondin, Secretary, General Workers\u2019 Union; GWU Representatives\u00a0Mark Mckay, Mildred Mifsud,\u00a0Colin\u00a0Ferriggi and Richard Vella; Mario Grixti,\u00a0Deputy Head, Industrial Relations Unit, Office of the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n
