Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg, was present for the launch of the \u2018MCC Museum\u2019 application, a virtual museum of the Mediterranean Conference Centre, during a dedicated event held in the same building.<\/p>\n

This app is an informative tool about all places of interest within the Mediterranean Conference Centre. Through innovative technology, driven primarily by artificial intelligence, anyone using it will be able to receive all the information through an audio guide and visual content, in various languages and in different locations within the Centre. It also includes innovations such as chatbots featuring a number of characters and even a virtual map that helps users navigate from one place to another. The application also has a children\u2019s version featuring a character called \u2018Oran\u0121jo\u2019.<\/p>\n

During the launch, the Deputy Prime Minister said that through technology, history is becoming accessible to everyone \u2014 not only to Maltese and Gozitans but also to tourists visiting our country.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am pleased to see initiatives of this kind, because this place has a lot of potential. First and foremost, we must ensure that the Mediterranean Conference Centre continues to fulfil its various roles. We must ensure that this centre remains a hub for conferences, one of the few possible places where conferences of a certain calibre can be held, and where in one location one can appreciate the charm of the Capital City, the Port and the historic architecture. It must continue to serve as a cultural centre so that the theatre stage continues to welcome the best artists and talents, and hosts as many cultural events as possible. It must also remain a tourist attraction so that anyone who visits Valletta can appreciate this majestic building. It is also important that this building serves to help Maltese and Gozitans, especially the younger generation, to understand and appreciate the richness of our history,\u201d said Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg.<\/p>\n

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Nigel Vella, stated that this app is a bridge connecting the past with the present, and the present with the future. \u201cThrough it, anyone who visits us does not only appreciate the architecture, the views, and our beautiful halls, but above all, they become informed. They learn about the people who walked through these corridors. They learn about the significance of the place and the way it served its functions. They learn how, despite this place being over 450 years old, it continues to play an important role to this day. It is wonderful that in a building like this you can see the past through technology. It is wonderful to hear, in different languages, about the work done so that today we are where we are,\u201d said Nigel Vella.<\/p>\n

CEO Vella emphasized that this app is living proof of the importance of integrating technology into all areas of life to maximise our full potential. Finally, he invited the general public to visit the Mediterranean Conference Centre this coming Sunday between 10am and 5pm for an open day.<\/p>\n

During the launch of this app, a presentation was delivered by Dylan Seychell on behalf of Sey Travel, the developer of the app, where he explained all the possible functions offered by this application.<\/p>\n
