Several trees were planted in Wied In\u010bita on the occasion of the Climate Action Authority\u2019s first year of operation as part of its commitment to climate action and sustainability. The event also celebrated the contribution of several Maltese citizens who, through their daily choices, are making a tangible difference to the environment.<\/p>\n
Minister for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleansing, Dr Miriam Dalli, met with the protagonists of the awareness campaign \u201cIl-Kontribut Tieg\u0127i\u201d, launched by the Climate Action Authority. The campaign highlights individuals who, whether at home, at work, in business, or through voluntary efforts, set an example by recycling, reducing waste, using energy-efficient appliances, engaging in innovative research, or even growing their own food produce.<\/p>\n
\u201cClimate action starts with each and every one of us, every personal decision can make a difference. It is therefore very encouraging to see the Climate Action Authority, through its educational efforts, promoting these positive examples,\u201d said Minister Dalli.<\/p>\n
Minister Dalli added that the Authority\u2019s first year of operation has been a strong and productive one, with the progress achieved laying a solid foundation for future work. She also recalled that the National Audit Office, through the Climate Scanner, recently recognised this progress. \u201cThis independent report confirmed that the Government\u2019s decision to establish this Authority, the first of its kind in Europe, was a sound and forward-looking one,\u201d Minister Dalli said.<\/p>\n
Chief Executive Officer of the Climate Action Authority, Ing. Abigail Cutajar, explained that the \u201cIl-Kontribut Tieg\u0127i\u201d campaign will continue on an ongoing basis. \u201cToo often, climate action is associated with governments or large corporations, but each one of us has a role to play. These success stories should inspire others to do the same,\u201d said Cutajar.<\/p>\n
She added that, to mark the Authority\u2019s first anniversary, its employees came together to plant trees in a public area as a symbolic and positive gesture. \u201cClimate change is a major challenge that no one can face alone. This is why we will continue working closely with various partners across Maltese society, so that together we can keep moving forward,\u201d Cutajar concluded.<\/p>\n
