\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>During the official launch of Malta\u2019s first High Performance Computer, Prtruly placing its digital future at the forefront. With the introduction of this new high-performance computer, Maltese innovators now have access to the advanced computing power they need to bring their ideas to life.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the heart of this system lies cutting-edge technology, but its real strength lies in what it can do for our people. It will empower breakthroughs in areas such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, climate modelling, financial technology, aerospace and more,\u201d explained Dr Abela.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister noted that this new infrastructure serves as the centrepiece of DiHubMT, Malta\u2019s European Digital Innovation Hub, led by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA). \u201cThrough this initiative and the wider DiHub setup, businesses and start-ups can now truly \u2018test before they invest\u2019<\/em>,\u201d said Dr Abela.<\/p>\n

Dr Abela emphasised that the timing of this investment could not be more significant. \u201cAs artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven innovation reshape every industry, nations that invest in digital infrastructure today will lead the industries of tomorrow. Malta\u2019s decision to launch its first high-performance computer reflects a clear understanding of this reality, that the future belongs to those who prepare for it, and that is what we are doing as a country,\u201d highlighted the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

He added that this technological milestone also carries symbolic meaning, it sends a strong message to our citizens and international partners that Malta is not standing still but is actively investing in capability and collaboration. \u201cWe are building bridges with European networks, ensuring that Malta contributes actively to the continent\u2019s shared digital future,\u201d stated Dr Abela.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also referred to Malta Vision 2050, describing it as a foresight plan designed to model quality of life and supercharge national industries with innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation at its core.<\/p>\n

Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri said, \u201cToday we\u2019re unveiling opportunity. With Malta\u2019s High Performance Computer, we\u2019re giving our researchers the tools they need to create, to experiment, and to lead in the digital age. For too long, access to this kind of computing power was only possible abroad and came at a high cost. From today, those barriers are gone. These resources are now right here in Malta, ready to be used by our own people. This is what true progress looks like, giving our youths and researchers the freedom to imagine more and achieve more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said that this project, co-financed by European funds, represents another step towards an economy based on knowledge and digitalisation. Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi explained that this investment will benefit a wide range of sectors, including the public sector, by providing a unique resource that strengthens our country\u2019s capacity in innovation and research. \u201cThis project reflects the objectives of the European Union in the field of digitalisation and artificial intelligence, where innovation goes hand in hand with ethical responsibility and the benefit of society. With such investments we are building a more advanced country digitally, more competitive and more prepared for tomorrow\u2019s needs.\u201d<\/p>\n
