Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by the Minister for Education, Sports, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima, inaugurated the renovation project of the Adrian Borg Primary School in Birkirkara. This school has been completely renovated from an old building to a modern and sustainable building, in a more beautiful environment that welcomes children and educators.<\/p>\n

With an investment of over \u20ac2 million, as part of the EDU Infrastructure Programme, extensive work has been carried out to renovate and modernise the school environment so that students and educators have more beautiful, safe, accessible spaces equipped with the latest technology. The facilities include new classrooms, a multi-functional hall, recreational and sports areas. In addition to the beautification works, this renovation included the introduction of energy-efficient systems and a new lift to ensure access for all.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited several classrooms and met with children during lessons and sports activities that were taking place on the occasion of the Sports Day in schools organised by SportMalta. During this visit the Prime Minister explained how this school does not only represent a modern building, but also testifies to our values \u200b\u200bas a country that we believe in quality education and a future based on the creation of opportunities for every child. \u201cThis investment is another step towards achieving the goal of this government in education, which is to have more modern schools that put the needs of students at the centre\u201d, said the Prime Minister, stressing in favour of the best for our children.<\/p>\n

Dr Abela added that the investment that the Government is making in education is not only in infrastructure but in educators with the best salaries and improvements in their working conditions and also in students who are having more digital tools to use in their educational journey. Here he noted how free laptops have begun to be distributed to 14,000 students from years 7 to 9 in all secondary schools across the country. He also pointed out that in primary schools, tablets continue to be given to students from year 4.<\/p>\n

Minister Clifton Grima said that this project demonstrates the Government’s commitment to providing modern and safe learning environments that place children at the centre of education. “Every investment like this means a better future for students and greater support for our educators”, said Minister Grima.<\/p>\n

This school was named in memory of Adrian Borg, a student who lost his life in a tragic school accident in 2003. This school now offers an educational environment that conveys a message of hope for a future built on a strong education. Adrian Borg’s parents were present for this inauguration.<\/p>\n
