The government, through Enemalta, has continued to invest heavily in the national electricity network, commissioning 46 new substations in the first nine months of this year, exceeding projections.<\/p>\n

This investment is a central part of the Government’s strategy to strengthen the electricity distribution system across Malta and Gozo, ensuring that it remains reliable, resilient, and capable of meeting increasing demand.<\/p>\n

Energy Minister Miriam Dalli, accompanied by Enemalta’s Executive Chairman Ing. Ryan Fava visited ongoing latest works in G\u0127axaq, where a new substation is currently being commissioned. This project will enhance the quality of service for customers in the area, reducing the likelihood of disruptions and increasing the stability of supply.<\/p>\n

“These investments reflect our long-term vision for a stronger and more resilient electricity network. By expanding and modernizing our infrastructure we are improving the quality of service for families and businesses today while also laying the foundations to meet tomorrow’s challenges, including the integration of more renewable energy. This work ensures that Malta’s energy system remains reliable, sustainable, and ready for the future,” Minister Miriam Dalli stated.<\/p>\n

Substations play a critical role in the electricity distribution network. By adding more substations across different localities, Enemalta is improving efficiency and creating additional redundancy within the network.<\/p>\n

The new substations commissioned this year are part of a broader program of investment. Enemalta is also working on several major projects to modernize and expand the network, including the construction of new distribution centers in Naxxar and Si\u0121\u0121iewi, doubling the capacity of Msida DC, increasing capacity in St. Andrew’s DC and also extending the switchgear in Mosta dc. These distribution centers will serve as key hubs, enabling more flexible management of power flows and providing the capacity needed to support Malta’s future energy needs.<\/p>\n

Enemalta’s Executive Chairman Ing. Ryan Fava underlined the importance of these projects: “Our priority is to deliver a service that our customers can rely on \u2014 not only today, but also in the years to come. By commissioning new substations and building new distribution centers, we are making the network more robust and resilient. We are committed to ensuring that Enemalta continues to provide a reliable, safe, and sustainable electricity supply for the country.”<\/p>\n

Enemalta will continue delivering projects that enhance the resilience of the national grid, reinforcing its mission to provide customers with a safe, reliable, and sustainable electricity service while supporting Malta’s long-term energy strategy.<\/p>\n
