\u00a0From Monday, October 6, 50 new parking spaces will be reserved for students who choose to travel together with other students to the University, following an agreement reached between the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works and the Campus Hub administration.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

This while the Ministry is also in an advanced phase of talks with the University Students\u2019 Council (KSU) to offer more carpooling spaces in the parking lots around the campus, following the success and high demand that this initiative has seen in previous years.<\/span><\/span> During a visit to the Freshers\u2019 Week at the University of Malta, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett said that this initiative together with others from the Reshaping Our Mobility plan are continuing to promote the use of alternative and more sustainable means of transport among young people.<\/span><\/span> \u201cWe are offering concrete and effective solutions to students. This initiative not only reduces the number of cars on our roads, but also encourages young people to start looking at mobility in a more sustainable way\u201d.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

He explained that in addition to this initiative, during this week a free Tallinja Card was offered to students to encourage them to use this free means of transport, while a new and direct Park & \u200b\u200bRide service was launched from Ta\u2019 Qali to the University.<\/span><\/span> For his part, Jan Proschek, Vice President for Internal Affairs of the University Students’ Council (KSU), said that, “The Carpooling initiative started at KSU more than 10 years ago, with the aim of encouraging sustainable transport. This year, together with the Ministry for Transport, the amount of spaces dedicated to carpooling will increase drastically as discussions over the last few months between the Ministry and KSU led to an agreement for this initiative to be extended.”<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Students can book their parking five days in advance through the myKSU mobile app, in a simple and efficient way.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
