Paola Local Council has been notified that the\u00a0 locality has been officially selected as European Town of Sport 2026 by ACES Europe.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

“This recognition is the result of the collective commitment of the Council, with the full support of the Port Region and the Paola community.<\/span><\/span> This is a unique opportunity for the town to continue promoting sport, health and community unity.<\/span><\/span> We look forward to making 2026 a year to remember in the history of Paola and our Malta”.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ACES<\/strong><\/p>\n

ACES is a non-profit association based in Brussels which assigns every year the recognitions of World Capital, European-American-African-Asian-Oceanian Capital, Region, City, Island, Community and Town of Sport.<\/strong><\/h6>\n

The allocation of these recognitions is done by ACES, according to the principles of responsibility and ethics, being aware that sport is a factor of aggregation of the society, improvement in the quality of life, psycho-physical well-being and complete integration within social classes in the community. ACES awards the European Capital of Sport title, an initiative that has received the recognition of the European Commission in the White Paper (Art. 50). In addition, ACES is an official partner of the European Commission in the European Week of Sport. Both facts suppose the recognition of the work and activity of ACES. Likewise, ACES is official partnership of UNESCO, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) Organization of American States (OAS) and American Council of Sport (CADE). ACES has involved more than 5,000 municipalities in its network so far.<\/p>\n
