\u201cGovernment delivers not just on green spaces but on recognition and fairness for the workers who make them possible,\u201d Environment Minister Dr Miriam Dalli said during the signing of a new collective agreement for Project Green workers.<\/p>\n
These workers will now benefit from a new collective agreement that strengthens their pay and working conditions, while recognising their vital role in delivering greener, healthier communities across Malta and Gozo.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this agreement, we are raising standards at the workplace and at home. Our workers are central to our promise: that every family should live within a short walk of an open and green space. Today, we show that when workers are respected, the whole country benefits,\u201d Minister Dalli said.<\/p>\n
The signing took place at Milbrae Grove and is the result of constructive social dialogue between the General Workers\u2019 Union, the Industrial Relations Unit within the Office of the Prime Minister, and Project Green management.<\/p>\n
Covering the years 2025\u20132029, the agreement, secures a substantial increase in basic pay as well as improved benefits such as higher shift allowances, trade and skill allowances, and annual allowances. Beyond pay, it represents better quality of life for employees and their families, and a more transparent and resilient agency structure.<\/p>\n
“Our workers are the heartbeat of the Agency. This agreement recognises their dedication and strengthens our capacity to create more open spaces for communities across Malta and Gozo. I thank our staff for their commitment, which continues to make a real difference in people\u2019s lives,\u201d Project Green CEO Joseph Cuschieri said.<\/p>\n
The General Workers\u2019 Union welcomed the agreement as a concrete improvement in workers\u2019 rights and a model of effective negotiation. “It is a pleasure and a great satisfaction that we signed the Project Green agreement, the first collective agreement for these workers. Through this collective agreement, we secured substantial increases for the workers as well as improved conditions,” GWU Metal and Construction Section Secretary Jesmond Marshall stated.<\/p>\n
