Misra\u0127 il-Karmelitani in \u017burrieq will be transformed from a tarmac area into a new green open space by Project Green.<\/p>\n

During a visit to the site by Minister Miriam Dalli, it was explained how the road will be transformed into a public space that everyone can enjoy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this investment we will be giving back the residents of \u017burrieq, another open space where they can meet and socialise together. Through this project, we are seeing that 2,200 residents will now have a space where the community can meet,\u201d said Minister Dalli.<\/p>\n

As part of the project, a reservoir will be created to collect rainwater from the road, which will be used for watering indigenous trees and shrubs. A new lighting system will also be installed, including solar lighting, as well as benches that together create a recreational space. A dedicated zone will be made for yoga and wellness sessions.<\/p>\n

Also present for the visit were the Project Green team and \u017burrieq Mayor Rita Grima.<\/p>\n

Project Green\u2019s Project Manager, Joseph Borda, explained that the agency will continue to provide more open spaces for residents to enjoy within a 10-minute walk from their homes or workplaces. \u201cAs with every other project, we ensure sustainable elements. This open space will include playground equipment for young children made from recyclable materials, as well as pathways made from mulch, an organic material that enriches the soil,\u201d Borda added.<\/p>\n

The Misra\u0127 il-Karmelitani project in \u017burrieq is among 16 projects announced by Project Green under the Community Greening Grant scheme.<\/p>\n
