Since the launch of the scheme, around 3000 applications for stairlifts have been approved, with an investment of more than \u20ac18 million.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During a press conference, the Minister for Social and Affordable Housing Roderick Galdes announced that by the end of last month, more than \u20ac4.5 million had already been invested in the stairlift scheme.<\/span><\/span> The main aim of this scheme is to help elderly people with disabilities or people with mobility problems improve accessibility in their homes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For this scheme, between 2023 and this year, more than 1,600 stairlifts have been approved in various residences in Malta and Gozo.<\/span><\/span> In fact, this year there have already been 454 applications approved.<\/span><\/span> This has led to an average of more than one application per day being approved.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSince this scheme was launched, almost 3000 applications have been approved, with an investment of more than \u20ac18 million. In order for our elderly to have the possibility to continue living in the community and in their homes, we must provide them with certain services, such as this scheme, to strengthen accessibility. In fact, we are supporting the elderly and those with mobility problems or particular needs so that they have a better quality of life,\u201d said Minister Galdes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The stairlift scheme, administered by the Housing Authority, intends to finance up to \u20ac7000 of the cost of installing a stairlift.<\/span><\/span> The Chief Executive of the Housing Authority, Matthew Zerafa stated that the Housing Authority, with its initiatives, is ensuring that people continue to live with dignity and independence in the communities in which they grew up.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
