Investment in the Police Force has continued to strengthen its presence in the community and not only provide a better service but also offer a better environment to Police Officers and the community.<\/p>\n
This is because the Rabat Police Station has reopened its doors after extensive renovation work, with the aim of offering a service and strengthening security for Rabat residents and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n
Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri reiterated that never before has the Police Force had a strong presence in the community and that this Government is continuing to strengthen it with projects such as these.<\/p>\n
” We have now also strengthened this presence in the Rabat locality in order to serve the residents of Rabat and the surrounding area, this is combined with a strong presence in the community which is also leading us to our country reducing the crime rate and keeping it low in recent years in a consistent manner. We are also offering a better environment to members of the Police Force, not only strengthening their conditions and rights but also their environment in the workplace. We are committed to continuing to provide the best possible resources to the Police Force so that it can then be of service to our country.”<\/p>\n
The works that were concluded in Rabat, which included extensive renovation not only in the building but also on the facade, join many other works that are underway on a number of police stations including in Msida, \u0126amrun and Mtarfa \u2013 which will be transformed from a Community Police Office into the second Domestic Violence Hub in the country, among others.<\/p>\n
This is against the backdrop that in recent years the Government has opened a new state-of-the-art Police Station in’ Marsaskala, opened the first Gender and Domestic Violence Unit in’ Santa Lucia, has undergone a total renovation in’ a number of police stations such as those in Marsalforn and Si\u0121\u0121iewi which are now operating 24\/7 while secondary police stations which were traditionally closed have been converted into community policing offices while new ones have been opened such as the one in’ Marsaxlokk.<\/p>\n
This while the remote reporting facility has also been introduced where a person can make a report from the comfort of their home while still having communication with the Police even with’ virtual mode.<\/p>\n
Police Commissioner Angelo Gaf\u00e0 reiterated that the extensive renovation works carried out inside the Rabat Police Station, as well as other renovation works being carried out at the Stations, are intended to provide a comfortable workplace for the Police, a workplace that strengthens the motivation of officers and reflects in’ better service for the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we have worked on and are still working on is to continue moving from a reactive force to a more preventive one, where through our presence and what is called intelligence-led policing, our focus becomes crime prevention. F” Malta and Gozo currently have 24 police stations open 24\/7,” the Police Commissioner said.<\/p>\n
He concluded by saying that the body is committed to continuing to improve the buildings from which it operates.’ major renovations with the aim of continuing to fulfill the mission of the corps, which is to provide a professional and trusted service to ensure that we have a safe country in partnership with the community.<\/p>\n
In fact, not only do NSO statistics say that 90% of the Maltese and Gozitan people have confidence in the Police, but even the Rule of Law Index says that the security of our country is one of the highest in the world.’ strong and places Malta among the ten safest countries in the world.<\/p>\n
The Mayor of Rabat, Sandro Craus, explained how, “Today is a special day for us and for the residents, as we will have a stronger Police presence in our locality, the opening of this Police Station means a stronger Police presence.”<\/p>\n
Investment in patrols is combined with investment in human resources with more rights and significant improvements in the conditions of the Police, modernisation of the fleet and the tools they use, the introduction of body-worn cameras and continuous improvements in the working environment, such as a modern and more practical uniform.<\/p>\n
