A successfully implemented program and plans for further cooperation in the future<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ministry for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme hosted the final conference of the European Economic Area and Norway Grants 2014\u20132021, at Fort St. Angelo, Vittoriosa.<\/p>\n

The conference brought together a number of local and international officials, project representatives, and other stakeholders. The aim of this conference was to acknowledge the work done during this period, and to discuss the positive effects it has brought in the areas of health, governance, youth, and culture. The Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, Johan Vibe, was present at this conference.<\/p>\n

During the opening speech, the Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi reiterated the Maltese Government’s commitment to strategically and effectively use every international funding opportunity that leaves a positive impact on our communities. He also thanked the donor countries \u2013 Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway \u2013 for their continued support and praised the work of the Funds and Programmes Division within the Ministry for European Funds, which played a key role as the national contact point and implementing body for this programme.<\/p>\n

“These funds, amounting to \u20ac8 million, are not just financial assistance, but are an important tool for transformation. That is why we have taken care to make the best use of the resources we have received so that they translate into results that really make a difference. The successful implementation of these funds also demonstrates vision, responsible leadership and commitment to the needs of the people,” said Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi.<\/p>\n

Johan Vibe said “I am very impressed by this conference because I really felt the passion and commitment of all those involved. Furthermore, it was explained how many good results were achieved from this program as well as the involvement of the Maltese people.”<\/p>\n

During the conference, the main projects funded under the Programme were presented, including those related to reducing health inequalities, supporting victims of domestic violence, the regeneration of the maritime museum in Vittoriosa, promoting social inclusion, and training local council employees in good governance and transparency.<\/p>\n

The conference closed with comments from the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for European Funds, Jonathan Vassallo, who emphasised the need to continue to make use of the experience gained so that future funds are delivered more efficiently and continue to provide more added value.<\/p>\n

The European Economic Area and Norway Grants Programme is made possible with the support of the peoples of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, as part of their commitment to promoting equality, economic growth and social cohesion among the member countries of the European Union.<\/p>\n
