In another important step towards a more efficient public transport system that better serves today’s needs, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett announced a new Park & \u200b\u200bRide service from the Addolorata car park. This service forms part of the Reshaping our Mobility initiative, which aims to create new alternative means of transport as well as improve existing ones.<\/p>\n

This new Park & \u200b\u200bRide service in Paola, will operate from a car park that currently has a capacity for over 220 vehicles. It will also offer a direct solution for those wishing to visit the centre of Paola as well as Mater Dei Hospital and the University through two new routes.<\/p>\n

Minister Chris Bonett explained how this service, which will be operational from 13 July onwards, is part of a wider policy that focuses on reducing congestion in town centres. \u201cThis is possible because we are creating reliable alternatives to private cars. This Park & \u200b\u200bRide is offering a direct solution for those who wish to visit the centre of Paola with a direct and efficient service from this car park,\u201d stressed Minister Bonett.<\/p>\n

He said that this service will be beneficial for both residents and the commercial community as it increases accessibility to Paola. \u201cWe are working to expand and add similar services in other locations around Malta in the near future, including Ta’ Qali which will serve both Rabat and Mosta and Naxxar. These will be integrated into the current network, which is being built strategically to offer a better service and more choice to the public,\u201d concluded Minister Bonett.<\/p>\n

This service is being announced the day after the inauguration of the breakwater and ferry landing in Bu\u0121ibba. This project paves the way for Tallinja bil-Ba\u0127ar, a new concept where public transport on land integrates with that of the sea to create a multimodal mobility system.<\/p>\n

The changes to these routes will come into effect from 13 July and include route extensions and new services, which aim to better cover all areas of Malta, where public transport gives people the opportunity to choose more sustainable and efficient means of transport.<\/p>\n
