Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo announced that the Agricultural and Rural Payments Agency is accepting applications for the pig welfare scheme until 27 June 2025.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

This scheme offers direct assistance to Maltese and Gozitan pig farmers, with the aim of continuing to improve the conditions in which the animals are kept.<\/span><\/span> With a total allocation of more than \u20ac2.2 million over a five-year period, this scheme is a testament to the Government\u2019s commitment to agricultural practices that protect the dignity of animals and promote greater sustainability in the sector.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cThe development of the sector must always go hand in hand with animal protection. We want a sector that not only produces, but that does so with conscience, knowledge, and humanity. We are also ensuring that farmers and ranchers have the tools and support necessary to be part of this positive change. Therefore, I thank all those who have already taken the step \u2013 with dedication and seriousness \u2013 to make a concrete difference in animal protection,\u201d said Minister Anton Refalo.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
