Families are an important link in the success of our children’s educational journey so that they can seize the best economic opportunities \u2013 Prime Minister Robert Abela addresses the ‘State of the Nation’ conference<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

When addressing the ‘State of the Nation’ conference organised by the Office of the President of Malta, Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke about a pilot project that began operating this scholastic year in ten schools where, to date, around one thousand two hundred students and nine hundred parents have been reached on a programme that strengthens relationships between schools, families and communities.<\/p>\n

At the conference on the theme of education, the Prime Minister spoke about the family-community school link project through which the Government is helping in the development of digital skills and also the raising of children with families who remain the focal point of decisions in their interest that the Government takes on a daily basis. Dr Abela said that the educational sector remains crucial in improving the quality of people’s lives and therefore also the economic direction of the Government so that our country continues to generate success thanks to the talent of Maltese and Gozitan youth.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister noted a study presented at the conference where there was an increase of close to 5% of those who feel they have been successful in their lives, three quarters in total of those who participated in this survey. He said that we want to see more people succeed in our country including our children who have their own dreams and desires. He explained how we must therefore continue to invest more vigorously in the best tool which is education so that our children can seize the best economic opportunities for quality careers. Prime Minister Robert Abela said that by the wealth we create we understand not only more money in families’ pockets but also more quality time in families, not only more growth in numbers in jobs but improvement in careers.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister stressed that this is why the Malta 2050 Vision speaks of a more modern educational system in emerging areas such as coding, Artificial Intelligence, robotics among others so that our children are trained for the economy of today and tomorrow. He said that we have educational schemes and institutions that are training and giving new skills to our youth to reach their potential and therefore the Government stresses a diversified economy where different skills are needed, not least vocational ones where the Government will reopen the trade school at MCAST.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Robert Abela said that on the other hand, there is no doubt that our children need to continue to be trained in digital tools, tools that the Government provides to children in schools, but there is no doubt that we want our children to continue to use them in the best way possible without the virtual world hindering them from what childhood also offers them, including quality time in open spaces with their loved ones.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Robert Abela also spoke about the strong investment that the Government has made and will continue to make in educators who are an important pillar in the educational sector. Dr Abela concluded by wishing that a national conference such as this will continue to spur and stimulate further work in favour of families for the good of the children of the Maltese nation.<\/p>\n
