During the inauguration of a new Falcon Aviation Engineering hangar at Malta International Airport, Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke about how our country wants to continue its commitment in the aviation sector to create more quality careers. This goes hand in hand with one of the pillars of the Malta 2050 vision where there are clear targets for the aviation industry to continue to excel including that growth in this sector will rise from \u20ac700 million to between \u20ac2.8 billion and \u20ac3.3 billion in ten years\u2019 time.<\/p>\n
During the inauguration of this investment by a company owned and run by a Maltese family, the Prime Minister noted that this other act of confidence in our country comes from a local enterprise. A two-phase investment of \u20ac5 million where the company has now invested in a 1,200 square metres hangar which was built in under twenty months will continue to assist in the company\u2019s operations to carry out maintenance on aircraft which also operate sustainably.<\/p>\n
While noting the 20th anniversary of this company, Prime Minister Robert Abela mentioned how our country wants to continue to increase the well-known aircraft register. He said that the Malta 2050 Vision also speaks about the need for the aircraft maintenance sector, MRO, to diversify even in different types of aircraft such as cargo carriers and executive jets. \u201cOur country can be a maritime, logistical and aviation hub at the same time\u201d, Dr Abela remarked.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Abela praised the courage, determination and resilience of the Zarb family which has not only achieved success but is part of a legacy of our country\u2019s name in the aviation industry. He also noted the flying school which is linked to Falcon Aviation Engineering. The Prime Minister referred to a number of investments which our country managed to attract from the aviation sector in recent years, even with the help of entities such as Malta Enterprise and INDIS Malta. He said that every sector is successful thanks to the human resource and training. Therefore, our country is investing in Maltese talent, including through the Malta Enterprise initiative at MCAST \u201cChoose Aviation\u201d to attract more youths to eventually embark on a career in the aviation sector.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, prior to the inauguration, the company\u2019s Managing Director, Captain Ray Zarb, also thanked Diamond aircraft Industries, a company which accepted to collaborate with Falcon Aviation Engineering on aircraft maintenance. He noted that the Maltese company is in the process of obtaining an important certificate to continue working in the MRO sector by being able to provide a service on turboprop and small jet aircraft. He said that Malta\u2019s strategic position enables the company to be an important link for Europe and North Africa.<\/p>\n
