The Minister for Energy Miriam Dalli, and Enemalta\u2019s Executive Chairperson Ryan Fava, visited ongoing works in Swatar where extensive work is underway to continue strengthening the electricity distribution system.<\/p>\n

The project includes the installation of approximately 10 kilometers of underground medium-voltage cables. These will connect the new extension of the DC substation in Msida with various other substations in the localities of Birkirkara, Msida, and Santa Venera.<\/p>\n

These works increase connectivity within the distribution system which, while increasing resilience, also enhance the flexibility of the network so that, in the event of faults, Enemalta technicians can restore supply to customers in the shortest time possible.<\/p>\n

Minister\u00a0Miriam Dalli\u00a0explained that this project is part of a wider national programme to modernise the distribution system, with similar works already ongoing or planned across Malta and Gozo. \u201cThis is a direct investment in people\u2019s quality of life. Energy is crucial to every aspect of modern life, and we must ensure our system is ready for major challenges such as climate change and increased consumption,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the Minister praised the cooperation between local councils, residents, and on-site workers, all of whom played an important role in ensuring the work was carried out efficiently and with minimal inconvenience to the public. This infrastructure investment not only strengthens the present but also lays the foundation for the ecological transition and digitalisation of the national grid in the future. The Minister concluded by stating that Government will continue to invest sustainably in projects that deliver better and more secure services for families and businesses across all areas of Malta and Gozo.<\/p>\n

In\u0121 Fava said that the project reflects the company\u2019s ongoing commitment to providing a high-level service. \u201cWith this type of investment, we continue to improve our infrastructure to meet future needs. I thank all the workers, the local council, and residents for their cooperation in enabling such important national projects to be completed in the shortest time possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

This \u20ac2.7 million project is being carried out with European Union funds through the RRF \u2013 Recovery and Resilience Facility Programme<\/p>\n
