Malta has officially opened a Consulate-General in Dubai to further strengthen political, economic, and cultural engagement with the United Arab Emirates, and support the growing Maltese community in the region, alongside the Maltese Embassy in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg inaugurated the Consulate-General on Thursday evening, soon after he co-chaired the inaugural session of the Malta-UAE Joint Commission, in a vital week for bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Ambassador of Malta to the United Arab Emirates Maria Camilleri Calleja and the Maltese Consul General in Dubai Patricia Borg Cooper, and other officials of the two Maltese representations in this country, also participated in the inauguration.<\/p>\n

The Maltese Deputy Prime Minister stated that \u201cthis is a significant milestone in Malta\u2019s journey to strengthen its global footprint, not only through consular services, but also through deeper political, economic and cultural ties with the UAE. Our presence here continues to be a tangible reflection of Malta\u2019s commitment to international engagement and our desire to contribute positively to the global dialogue for peace, prosperity and cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Borg emphasised that the opening of this Consulate is a symbol of shared aspirations, collective potential, and a joint pursuit of progress. He praised the dynamic role Dubai has taken on the global stage and reaffirmed Malta\u2019s intention to extend collaboration with UAE in key sectors such as innovation, education, sustainability, health, digital transformation and tourism.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough collaboration and mutual respect, Malta and the UAE will continue to achieve great things together. Let this consulate be a beacon of partnership \u2014 not only for state actors and institutions \u2014 but for citizens, entrepreneurs, artists, academics and future generations,\u201d Deputy Prime Minister Borg affirmed.<\/p>\n
