On Wednesday 9th September, Girgenti Palace will reopen its doors to the public for another edition of the ‘A Night at the Palace’ concert, with the theme ‘Maltese Melody’.
The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Kevin Abela, will be performing a musical program featuring some of the local songs that over the years have become part of our country’s cultural identity.
This edition will commemorate the memory of maestro Aurelio Belli, as a show of respect and recognition for his lasting contribution to the music and cultural heritage of our country, as well as his participation in previous editions of ‘A Night at the Palace’.
The Prime Minister’s wife, Dr Lydia Abela, said that this concert has become an annual event that combines music and culture with an important social purpose. She explained that all proceeds from ticket sales, together with donations collected during this memorable evening, will be donated to Hospice Malta, in order to continue supporting the invaluable work that this organization carries out in the field of palliative care.
“Through this evening we will not only celebrate Maltese song and the musical talents of our country, but we will also be giving concrete support to Hospice Malta, the patients it assists and their families,” said Dr Abela.
The Prime Minister’s wife also thanked the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra for its participation and support for this event year after year. She said that ‘A Night at the Palace’ is a wonderful opportunity for families to meet in a unique setting and enjoy a cultural spectacle together, which, ultimately, has a noble purpose.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Vanessa Mangion, said that the Orchestra is proud to once again be part of this initiative. She maintained that through events such as these, the Orchestra is continuing to strengthen its mission of bringing music to different audiences, bringing musical culture closer to the public and, at the same time, making a positive and significant contribution to the community.
Maestro Kevin Abela explained that the program will offer a journey through the years through Maltese songs that have left a mark on our country’s musical history, with orchestral arrangements that will give a new dimension to these much-loved pieces.
Tickets can be purchased from: A Night at the Palace for €10, all proceeds of which will be donated to Hospice Malta. Each person can purchase a maximum of five tickets.
