Father and son sentenced to 20 years for murder

A father and son, Kurt Grech, 31, and Joseph Grech, 61, have been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Brandon Pace, following their conviction by a jury last week. The pair were found guilty of fatally stabbing Pace outside his Hamrun home on April 2, 2017.

The jury delivered a 6-3 verdict after eight hours of deliberation, finding that the Grechs were involved in a long-standing feud with Pace, which escalated into violence. The dispute was reportedly fueled by an argument regarding the treatment of Kurt Grech’s son, whose mother had entered into a relationship with Pace.

Under the law, anyone convicted of murder faces a minimum sentence of 12 years, with a maximum sentence of life in prison. The 20-year sentence handed down to the Grechs falls within this range.
