The 15th edition of Betlehem opens in Għajnsielem

Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri visits Bethlem live nativity

The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri officially inaugurated the 15th edition of Betlehem fħajnsielem, one of the most sought-after events in the Gozitan Christmas cultural calendar. This living nativity scene takes visitors back to the times of the Nativity, while offering an authentic and inspiring experience during the Christmas period.

During the inauguration, Minister Camilleri expressed his satisfaction that this activity has continued to be a success year after year and has increased in popularity. He said, “Bethlehem in Għajnsielem is a model of how our cultural and religious identity can be transformed into an opportunity for Gozo to continue to be positively mentioned on a national and international level and attract many people. This event not only reiterates the importance of Christmas as a time of unity and hope, but also demonstrates the spirit of the Gozitan community. I thank the Għajnsielem Local Council and the hundreds of volunteers involved in the organisation to make this living reconstruction a reality.”

The animated nativity scene spread over an area of ​​20,000 square meters and with more than 100 actors will offer not only a unique experience of the Nativity story but also a mix of local traditions and crafts along with everything that is generally associated with the traditional Maltese nativity scene.
