During a visit to the Primary school of the College San George Preca, in Tal-Pietà, Dr. Lydia Abela launched the fifth edition of the initiative ‘Kartolina Milied’ which for the last few years has been carried out successfully with very strong participation from the children and youth of our country.
Dr. Lydia Abela invited the children present to, apart from the drawing, write a beautiful message to be included in the inside of the Christmas card.
“Use your imagination to describe in this postcard what Christmas means to you,” said Dr. Abela to the children present. “Both I, as well as Robert, believe in the talent and creativity of our children and young people. So we are seeing that you will be the artists of the official postcards that we will send for this Christmas.”
This call is open to all students aged between 4 and 12 years. Participants may use any medium or combination of mediums (excluding sculpture, 3D, and audiovisual), including paint, crayon, pencil, collage, and digital media to perform their drawing.
A selection board led by the Maltese Council for the Arts will choose the official postcards for this Christmas from among the submissions from the schools. The winners of this competition will be announced on Monday, December 16th. Prizes will be awarded to three different age groups for the best postcard design and message. These age groups are: from 4 to 6 years, from 7 to 9 years and from 10 to 12 years. The winning design and winning message from each age group will be selected for the official Prime Minister’s Office Christmas Card designs.
The artistic work of all the children will be exhibited in the Christmas Village in Pjazza Castilja between the 16th and 24th of December.
