The Public Consultation Document on National Strategy for Reforming the Land Registration System: 2025-2035 presented to the President of Malta.

At the President’s Palace in Sant’Anton, the Minister for Lands and Implementation of the Electoral Program Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi presented the Public Consultation Document on the National Strategy for Reforming the System for Land Registration: 2025-2035, to the President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono.

During this meeting the Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi explained the purpose of this reform, that is to say that by the year 2035 the whole country will become a registration area where there is a transfer of property.

In fact, during this meeting it was explained the importance of this reform which is aiming for the country to have an updated land registration system that addresses the necessary needs in order to ensure that the best customer service and professionals involved in the property registration process.

During the discussion, the minister explained how this is only the first step and a means of increasing awareness of the need and benefit of a more transparent and up-to-date Land Registry. The aim of this consultation process is to obtain the greatest possible consensus in order to ensure use and also the success of the system.

For her part, the President of Malta, also because of her experience when she exercised the profession of notary, made several observations and indicated the importance for this reform, which has been coming since the beginning of years 80 of the other century, it will be a success for the benefit of the Maltese society.

Accompanying the minister was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Carlos Tabone and the CEO of the Land Registration Agency Michelle Piccinino, together with the officials of the ministry.

The President was accompanied by the Secretary of the Presidency Moira Attard, the Head of the Secretariat Reuben Sciberras, the Private Secretary Christian Vella Masini, and Major Richard Vassallo.

The public consultation will remain open until 28 February 2025. The ministry encourages those directly interested and the public to formally express their thoughts on this strategy.
