South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol has declared martial law, saying he was imposing martial law to eradicate “shameless pro-North Korean anti-state forces”.
Opposition leader Lee Jae-myung declared that the president’s move was “illegal and invalid”.
The military is backing the presidents even as parliament voted to overturn the marital law order.
