This was announced by the Minister for National Heritage, Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici together with the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli. They explained that the village will consist of several attractions so that all those who visit it get into the spirit of the festivities.
Minister Bonnici said, “This initiative is very positive because it continues to confirm how much our traditions and culture are a source of national pride. The village will be a unique opportunity for everyone who visits to live the experience of the festivities in an authentic and memorable atmosphere. This will be an attraction not only for the Maltese and the Gowis but also for the tourists who are currently in our country to live the experience of a typical Maltese village.”
Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli said that during the month of December there are several Local Councils that will be organizing their attractions in the respective localities. She said that there will be a total of 30 local councils that will set up initiatives through a special fund for cultural activities in Maltese and Gozitan towns and villages. “It is a pleasure to note how this year a number of Local Councils will be offering free shows and attractions to Maltese and Gozitan families. This is another way in which the government is indirectly helping to increase the traditions and culture of Christmas in our country, at the same time that it continues to raise the quality of life of the Maltese and the Gozdzin,” said Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa.
