Prime Minister Robert Abela opens the regeneration project of Spencer Garden in Marsa

Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the Spencer Garden regeneration project in Marsa. Spencer Garden, an area of ​​approximately 11 acres of land, returned in a wonderful state to the community as part of the Government’s commitment to continue investing in green and sustainable spaces in the heart of our country’s localities.
In fact, this garden regenerated by the Environment and Resources Authority, ERA, strongly promotes the principle of sustainability including a water storage system and that in – at the same time filter it. This together with the planting of close to six thousand shrubs and six thousand other plants together with many trees and systems that generate electricity from sunlight.

In his speech, the Prime Minister pointed out his satisfaction for the completion of this project in the heart of Marsa. “Tonight we are witnessing the completion of a project in a locality that I firmly believe in its potential. A locality whose past decisions were hard on the Marsa people. Today I am proud of a Government that strongly believes in Marsa”, pointed out the Prime Minister as he reiterated the strong regeneration that he wants to see in this locality and the important decisions that have already been taken by the Government in this regard, among them with the closure of the power station.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment that the Government will continue to give priority to projects such as the Spencer Garden. “I believe that we must accelerate the work to have more. I want to see more like Spencer Garden. Other projects that we have carried out such as that of Wied Fulija, il Qortin in Gozo and Bengħaisa are important projects”, claimed the Prime Minister as he also explained that in the Budget for next year the investment will be increased so another 19 open spaces projects will be completed. “I look forward to seeing many families enjoying this place. Let’s continue to maintain this healthy pace in the implementation of environmental projects towards a quality country”, concluded the Prime Minister.
Environment and Energy Minister Miriam Dalli
Before the inauguration, the Minister for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness Miriam Dalli spoke. “With this regeneration project we are giving new life to Marsa. This project symbolizes the continuous protection we want to give to the environment around us. Spencer Garden represents ERA’s commitment to continue working and strengthen its work in favor of environmental protection, in its different forms,” ​​said Minister Dalli. “We promised 40,000 square meters of new open spaces by the end of the year. This is the third garden we are opening in three days. The third garden that is offering added value in the locality in which it is located”, concluded Minister Miriam Dalli.
