Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the Achille Ferris Primary School in Msida. A school that was demolished and rebuilt and is carbon-neutral. This school with a wonderful educational environment has kept the aesthetics of the school’s original facade and the environment inside is state-of-the-art with a number of facilities.

The new school with a size of 10,000 square meters was made with an investment of €24 million where there is partial funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan of Malta from the European Union. In the school there is special attention to sustainability with solar panels and maintaining a comfortable temperature in the classrooms. The school also has around 40 classrooms and includes classes for specific subjects such as personal and social development, art, music, science, literacy, and ethics. In the school there is also a public library and a hall, a recreational space for the needs of the community after school hours including for the use of Sea Scouts in Msida. Under the school there is a car park on two levels.

In an address made by the Prime Minister Robert Abela after he visited the school and met the students including during a reading session, he highlighted this investment as a beacon of quality being made by the Government in the sector educational. “Today we are inaugurating a carbon-neutral school because this is the present and the future,” stressed Dr. Abela and he notes that this is the leap in quality that he wants to see in every investment in the country.

The Prime Minister also greeted the educators who are the main driving force in the education of our children. Note the best agreement for educators of investment and improvement in the wages and conditions of educators comes from the economic and social health that we have in our country and that give us the opportunity to invest in crucial areas such as s -educational sector. He said that is why we are investing in a qualitative way. The Prime Minister ended with a message to the students and educators at the new Msida school where he not only wished them beautiful experiences in a quality environment but said that beyond the building, this school in the form of a good project it should lead to the children reaching their aspirations so that the future will be a quality life.

Before the inauguration, the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima also spoke, who spoke about the importance of the school’s inauguration. “Today’s occasion is not simply an inauguration of a modern educational building with everything necessary for a complete education, but it is also a celebration of your future, the students, and of your work and commitment, the educators in the educational sector,” stressed Minister Grima. For her part, the Head of the school Graziella Vassallo described the inauguration of the school as a historical moment. She said, “The opening of this new school is a sign of hope, an investment in the future and an opportunity to start a new chapter, not only for us as educational workers but also for the students, for their families and for -the community as a whole.”
