The restoration project of the bells in the Church of Jesus in Valletta has been completed

With the financial help from the Malta Tourism Authority, the Franciscan Province – Saint Paul the Apostle Malta has completed a project in the Church of Giesu in Valletta City to restore the historic bells of the church, which were removed two years ago for the maintenance. These bells, overseen by various workers over the centuries, are part of the rich history and cultural heritage we have in the Capital City.

The restoration involved two historic bells by two Maltese workers and the acquisition of four new ones. These new bells were crafted by the Royal Eijsbouts Bellfoundry, a renowned entity in the Netherlands known for producing important bells such as the great bell of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Olympic bell for – London games.

This project will not only improve the harmony of the sounds of the bells of Giesu around Port il-Kbir, but will also enhance the cultural and spiritual experience for those who visit and pray in this church. of great history. The restoration that has been carried out ensures the preservation of the historical and religious significance of the church for future generations as well as that it continues to serve as a contribution to the general cultural heritage of Malta.

These details were announced by the Minister for Tourism and Public Cleanliness Clayton Bartolo at the official inauguration of this project.

Minister Clayton Bartolo stated that improvements in the tourist product are being made at every level including when it comes to religious tourism. “This is a niche in which our country has enormous potential to grow and be among the best in the Mediterranean. Every town and village in the Maltese islands has its own history in the cultural and religious world. From all over the world, particularly from foreign markets, there are tourists who come from outside Europe specifically on a pilgrimage or spiritual journey. Therefore, our goal is to position Malta and Gozo as a strong destination in this regard,” concluded Minister Clayton Bartolo.
