For another year, the Animal Honors Awards were held again, celebrating the work and dedication of all those, particularly the volunteers and professionals, who work tirelessly and non-stop every day in favor of the protection and animal rights in Malta.
On Friday evening, several animals and people who work in favor of the rights of the same animals were rewarded. During the summer months, the public had the opportunity to nominate and vote for twelve different categories: 6 categories that are directly related to animals and 5 others for people who work in the field of animal rights.
The prizes were presented by the Minister Anton Refalo, by the Permanent Secretary Sharlo Camilleri, by the Commissioner for the Appropriate Treatment of Animals Alison Bezzina, as well as by Dr. Lydia Abela who presented a special prize to the parents of Jake Vella, in memory of their son who worked tirelessly in favor of animal protection.
Parliamentary Secretary Alicia Bugeja Said was absent for personal reasons. The Animal Honors Awards were organized by the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights with the aim of paying tribute to all those who give their time for animals, and to further strengthen the protection and proper treatment of the animals in our country.
