The tourism sector is not just an increase in the number of tourists, but it is an area that leads to social progress and with which we continue to spur sustainable development which is good for our country. This is what Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed in an address he made during the laying of the first stone of the Hard Rock Hotel Malta hotel project together with a hospitality complex in San Điljan. During the start of a private investment of €300 million, Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke about how quality investment must lead to us continuing to raise the tourist product that our country offers.
Dr. Abela explained that our country recovered well from the pandemic after a direct impact on tourism and today we are talking about income generated by this industry which is estimated to reach €3 billion by the end of the year. He stressed however that it is not just the numbers that count, but the importance of quality in tourism where with fewer arrivals, our country can still generate strong value. The Prime Minister said that private investment helps in favor of a direction with an emphasis on quality and the government supports that in which good will reigns.
The Prime Minister explained that the results from different markets are encouraging, including from the United States and the United Kingdom, and said that our country is moving in a direction to attract tourists looking for a unique experience. “We are confident that Malta and Gozo are able to provide more quality products to tourists,” said the Prime Minister, noting how to move towards quality we must ensure that we continue to attract valuable investments and that give a name to what it offers our country.
He said that government support will continue through investment in infrastructure and sustainable growth that will continue to inject strength into tourism and the field of hospitality even by raising standards. The Prime Minister explained that this is how we will continue to give a future to this area which has always been important for our country and we will get from tourism the best wealth for the Maltese and the Gowis.
