The Minister for Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri visited the works being done in the Digital Innovation Center (DiHubMT), which will be inaugurated by the end of this year.
The aim of this Centre, which will be based in a 550 square meter facility in the building of the Maltese Digital Innovation Authority, the MDIA, is to create a space for startups and scale-ups where they can find all with what they need on their journey. Among these there is the space where they can develop their products, the access to the relevant expertise, as well as a tool that is so necessary including a High Performance Computer through which the research is done in a much shorter period.
Nowadays students or companies that need to use a High Performance Computer are having to go abroad at considerable expense. As soon as this High Performance Computer starts operating, which is expected to arrive in our country next year, not only will the attraction of our country for quality investment be increased, but more burdens and discharge will be reduced. to researchers and companies.
The centre is part of a European network that aims to drive economic growth through digital transformation. This facility is equipped with advanced technologies to help companies develop viable products.
“Starting any type of business is difficult. Businesses in the field of digital innovation; AI, VR, AR, Blockchain, 3D printing, IoT drones and others is more difficult due to the amount of costs in the necessary tools in these industries. With DiHubMT we will be facilitating all this. In this facility that will be open later this year, start-ups and scale ups in this sector will have everything they need to operate under one roof. We are not only offering a space from which to work, but also an IoT laboratory, a laboratory for 3D printing and a high performance computer among other services,” said Minister Silvio Schembri, while visiting the works which are at an advanced stage.
DiHubMT is one part of a chain of initiatives from various entities in our country including MDIA, Gaming Malta and Malta Enterprise in order to attract to our country quality investment that yields good wages with the least possible environmental impact.
Minister Silvio Schembri was accompanied by the Chief Executive, of MDIA, Mr. Kenneth Brincat and Mr. Bernard Montebello, the Head of DiHubMT.
