Spazju Kreattiv launches its programme 2024-2025

Spazju Kreattiv is excited to announce the launch of its 2024-2025 programme, showcasing a diverse range of artistic experiences designed to bring art to life in Malta. With 550 events across 17 creative forms and over 350 collaborators, this season promises to be the most vibrant and inclusive yet, featuring projects that span visual art, theatre, film, music, dance, and think tanks.

Once again, Spazju Kreattiv reaffirms its position as the heart of Malta’s creative community, offering local and international audiences a rich experience of artistic
excellence and cultural innovation.

This year’s programme presents a series of events that appeal to all tastes and interests. From contemporary art exhibitions to experimental performances and thought-provoking films, the 2024-2025 season is designed to spark conversation and foster engagement with the arts.
Collaborating with a wide network of both emerging and established artists, Spazju Kreattiv
offers a platform for fresh voices while continuing to support seasoned professionals. This
season’s blend of local talent and international expertise will ensure that Malta remains at
the forefront of the global arts scene.

Audiences can expect everything from boundary-pushing theatre productions and cutting-
edge performances to innovative digital art installations and immersive cinema experiences.

These events are curated to highlight the interconnectedness of different art forms, offering
audiences an opportunity to experience how performance, music, movement, visual art, and storytelling can come together in unexpected and thrilling ways.

Inclusivity and accessibility are core values of Spazju Kreattiv’s mission, and the 2024-2025 programme reflects this commitment. Whether it’s through the ever-popular ŻiguŻajg Season for children and families, intergenerational workshops, community-led residencies or events for marginalised groups, Spazju Kreattiv ensures that people of all ages and backgrounds have the opportunity to engage with creativity. This year’s programme also places a strong emphasis on community outreach, offering free events and collaborative projects that aim to bring art to all corners of Malta and Gozo.

By making art more accessible, Spazju Kreattiv strives to create a truly inclusive cultural experience that transcends boundaries.
Digital accessibility is another key feature of this season’s offerings. Building on the success
of previous years, the 2024-2025 programme will continue to expand its digital platform,
offering a range of online content including live-streamed events, podcasts, virtual tours and a curated digital archive. Such endeavours ensure that those who cannot attend in person can still engage with the cultural activities Spazju Kreattiv has to offer, furthering the organisation’s goal of making art available to all, both locally and globally.

Dr Owen Bonnici, Minister for National Heritage, Arts, and Local Government,
emphasised the crucial role of Spazju Kreattiv in fostering artistic collaborations that shape
Malta’s cultural landscape. “Thanks to Spazju Kreattiv’s efforts, today’s global artistic
exchanges vividly demonstrate how merging diverse creative perspectives can break down
barriers and produce exceptional new works. This initiative not only highlights the exciting
possibilities of such partnerships but also celebrates the immense power of collective
imagination in driving cultural innovation.”

The Executive Chairman of Fondazzjoni Kreattività Rupert Cefai emphasised the importance
of this diverse programme, stating that “With each new year, we strive to ignite and sustain
creativity in all its forms. This year, we’re deepening our commitment to growing Malta’s
artistic community by offering even more innovative ways for artists to share their work and connect with audiences. Our approach is not just about showcasing talent but about building a sustainable platform for creative growth and exploration. By doing so, we keep our doors open for artists to experiment, collaborate, and engage in new ways, continually inspiring and challenging our patrons with bold, fresh expressions of art. As we move forward, our goal is to foster a cultural space that sparks both innovation and conversation, ensuring creativity remains a vibrant force in Malta’s future”

Artistic Director of Spazju Kreattiv Daniel Azzopardi added, “This season embodies the spirit of artistic collaboration and forward-thinking innovation. We’re giving artists the space to venture beyond their usual boundaries, encouraging them to experiment and engage with their work in ways that challenge and redefine their craft. For audiences, this programme offers more than just a viewing experience; it invites them into the heart of artistic exploration, allowing them to engage with art through fresh, interactive, and transformative experiences. What makes this season truly stand out is its ability to create a sense of connection—uniting people from different walks of life through the shared impact of art. It’s about fostering meaningful encounters that provoke thought, spark conversation, and leave a lasting impression.”

As Spazju Kreattiv embarks on its 2024-2025 season, it reaffirms its commitment to driving artistic innovation and cultural engagement in Malta. This innovative programme will push creative boundaries and invite audiences to experience art in unprecedented ways, markingna new chapter in Malta’s cultural journey.
