Malta’s nominee for the European Commission has been entrusted with a portfolio that will have an impact on the present and the future

The Maltese Government notes with satisfaction that Malta’s nominee for the College of the European Commission with a mandate from the beginning of next December, Glenn Micallef, was welcomed by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and has been entrusted with the portfolio that has an impact on the people, who are the present and the future of the European Union.

Malta’s nominee is being given the portfolio of Youth, Intergenerational Justice, Sport and Culture. Important themes that our country has always pushed on the national and European agenda and implemented important changes in these subjects that led to reforms that gave more voice.

The Government believes that young people are the catalysts of today’s and tomorrow’s success, but not only that. Justice between generations together with sport and culture are other important aspects in favor of people’s quality of life.

The Government notes how the young nominee of our country is being entrusted with an important portfolio for the future of European citizens and looks forward to continue working with the European Commission in favor of the common good of all the citizens of the States Members.

The Government wishes Glenn Micallef every success in his next steps and in his future work as a young and strong voice for the benefit of the Maltese and European people.
