45 people were found living in the Malta without permits during road checks carried out in a number of localities, including Paola and Burmarrad.
Charges and contraventions were also issued during the inspections due to breaches of traffic laws as well as irregular jobs to foreign workers.
These persons were subsequently taken to a detention centre where preparations for their return to their country of origin or to the country in which they are permitted to reside began.
The Police carried out the inspections together with Transport Malta, JobsPlus, Identità and the Detention Services Agency.
