Former England manager Eriksson dies aged 76

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has died at the age of 76.

In January he was diagnosed with cancer.

Erikssonn led the Three Lions to the quarter-finals at three major tournaments during his five-year spell in charge between 2001 and 2006.

He was the first non-Englishman to take charge of the England team, taking over from Kevin Keegan in 2001.

England have not lifted a major trophy since their 1966 World Cup win at Wembley. However under Eriksson, they did enjoy a remarkable run of reaching the eight of the 2008 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, including a 5-1 thumping of Germany.
