Eleven people arrested in police raids into human trafficking: Update

In a massive operation, police have arrested eleven people suspected of human trafficking.

Eight Maltese men, a Maltese woman and a Romanian man together with a Romanian woman, were picked up in early morning raids across a number of locations in Malta.

The raids were the result of weeks of investigations by the Vulnerable Victims Squad and the Financial Crimes Investigation Department.

Large amounts of cash and valuable items were seized during the operation.

This operation started yesterday at around 6am with simultaneous Police raids taking place in Birkirkara, Gzira, St Paul’s Bay, Siggiewi, Fgura, Gudja, Paola, Zebbug and Senglea.
While police investigations are ongoing, an inquiry is also being conducted by Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D.
