Prime Minister Robert Abela wrote to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen where he formally put forward the nomination of the Maltese Government for European Commissioner.
Glenn Micallef is the nominee of Malta. Glenn Micallef has extensive experience in European affairs among others. He has a degree in economics and European politics. Micallef was also Head of the Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister.
Mr. Micallef was Director General of the Department of Coordination of the European Union and served as an advisor to the Prime Minister for European Affairs, where he was also part of the negotiation team that led to Malta obtaining a record allocation of funds Europeans.
