Prime Minister Robert Abela meets the Maltese Olympics contingent in Paris

Prime Minister Robert Abela together with his wife Dr. Lydia Abela met with the Maltese contingent for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
A few hours before the opening ceremony of the Olympics, which the Prime Minister is attending at the invitation of the French President Emmanuel Macron and the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, Dr. Abela spoke to Maltese athletes and wished them well for this experience in this world sporting event.
In the village for the athletes who will participate in the Olympics in Paris, the Prime Minister Robert Abela added that the Government’s support in sport will continue in a strong way so that in particular we continue to invest in the athletes and in the sports infrastructure of our country.
Prime Minister Robert Abela not only wished the athletes to deliver a performance for themselves and our country with determination but he stressed that the spirit of Team Malta and the unity that sport brings is behind the athletes of our country, who are the protagonists and deserve every support.
Team Malta in these Olympics is composed of athletes Katryna Esposito (judo), Beppe Grillo (athletics) Kyle Micallef (swimming), Sasha Gatt (swimming) and Gianluca Chetcuti (shooting). Chetcuti and Gatt will carry the Maltese flag during the opening ceremony of these Games which will take place on Friday evening. The Prime Minister Robert Abela and Dr Lydia Abela also spoke to the rest of the Maltese contingent including the President of the Maltese Olympic Committee Julian Pace Bonello and the Chef de Mission of Malta in these Olympics Paul Sultana.
