Heritage Minister Owen Bonnici with Palestinian students

In Żejtun, the Minister for National Heritage, Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici met with fifteen students from Birzeit University in Palestine who are in Malta as part of an initiative of the Chamber of -Architects in collaboration with the Association of Palestinian Architects, where a workshop is being organized aimed at strengthening cultural collaboration and architectural innovation between Mediterranean countries.

During this workshop, the Palestinian students are sharing their ideas and knowledge with the local community on a theoretical redesign of Misraħ Santa Marija in Żejtun. This collaboration is also the result of the twinning between Żejtun and Birzeit.

Minister Bonnici stressed, “This initiative is an excellent example of how architecture can serve as a means of collaboration and knowledge between cultures. The Palestinian students are doing an impeccable job together with the local community, and this will not only help them in their learning but also in building strong relations between our peoples.”

During the visit, Minister Owen Bonnici was accompanied by the President of the Chamber of Architects, Architect Andre Pizzuto, the International and Communications Secretary of the Chamber of Architects, Architect Joeaby Vassallo, members of the Local Council of Żejtun, the Ambassador of Palestine to Malta Fadi Hanania and representatives from the Embassy of Palestine.
