MHRA, “Product Malta Under Severe Strain”

This past week has seen Balluta Bay turn green and power outages affecting multiple
localities, directly impacting both our tourism sector and local residents. The general upkeep and cleanliness of product Malta is a continuing concern.

Other areas of Product Malta have experienced significant strain, though not as acutely as the sea turning green and the disruption of electrical supply.

The MHRA is concerned that a lack of investment and cohesive planning to address the
growing population of residents and tourists in Malta is taking a toll on Product Malta.
While the MHRA acknowledges that there are no easy or simple solutions, it stresses that
decisions regarding Malta’s future over the next 15 years must be made now and
communicated clearly to all stakeholders.

Malta and Gozo risk ‘Product Malta’ sliding down a slippery slope which makes for an
increasingly more difficult recovery.
