Prime Minister Robert Abela has meetings today and tomorrow in Tripoli, starting with bilateral meetings in the early afternoon with the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, where discussions are expected to focus not only on immigration but also on strategic cooperation that has continues particularly on renewable energy.
The two Leaders are expected to sign an extension of an agreement signed in May 2020 on immigration. An agreement that also meant a reduction in the arrivals of illegal immigrants in our country and the rescue of thousands of people in the Mediterranean sea. Robert Abela is also expected to have a meeting with the President of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi.
On Wednesday, at the invitation of the Libyan Government, Prime Minister Robert Abela will address the Forum on immigration in the Mediterranean which is being attended by other African and European countries, with the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, also expected to attend.
